Kindergarten does a lot with owls at my school. In the Fall they put on a little play based on the book, Owl Babies. I have the students make these owl paintings and we have them up in the hall as parents visit the school to see the play.
Last Spring, I had a visiting artist named Susan Livingston working with some of my classes and she helped them make these adorable little owl out of a turned over pinch pot.
The first day, we taught the students to wedge and then we showed them how turn the pinch pot into an owl.
After the owls had been fired, we went back with white underglaze and clear glaze and fired them a second time.
