Keith Haring Gesture Paintings (Day 5) – Putting it All Together

Keith Haring was an artist who began his career by drawing chalk drawings on the empty advertising frames of the New York Subway. He was very prolific during his short life and his iconic figures can be found on murals, paintings, T-Shirts, and prints.

Putting it All Together

In first class, students made chalk drawing as a warm up to this painting lesson.  Then, they made sketches of different kinds of poses (using this paper mannequin to help them visualize the body.) Next, student got a piece of 18″x 24″ drawing paper and drew their final figure. In the last class, students painted their figures.

Today students will cut out their figure and glue it to a piece of construction paper.
